Giles Duley
Giles Duley, born in 1971 in London, is the CEO of Legacy of War Foundation, photographer, writer, chef, and presenter. His work highlights the long-term humanitarian impacts of conflict. Initially a music photographer, Duley captured stars like Mariah Carey and Lenny Kravitz, with his images being named among the 100 greatest rock photos. In 2004, he shifted focus to documentary photography, working with charities such as Save the Children and UNHCR. Duley documents conflict zones, showcasing the resilience of those affected by adversity. His work spans countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. In 2011, Duley was severely injured by an IED in Afghanistan, resulting in triple amputation, but he returned to continue his work. In 2015, he launched the Legacy of War project, collaborating with artists like Massive Attack and PJ Harvey. He has presented for Channel 4 and VICE TV, and in 2022 was appointed the UN's Global Advocate for Persons with Disabilities in Conflict. In 2023, he was awarded an MBE and joined Angelina Jolie's Atelier Jolie as a corporate impact advisor.
