Cam Hummels

Cam Hummels is the Director of Astrophysics Outreach at Caltech, with a passion for public science education and the benefits it has for society. Each year, he organizes some 50 outreach events with over 20,000 attendees. Cam established the popular Caltech Stargazing Lecture Series, and founded and directs the Los Angeles Chapter of Astronomy on Tap, public astronomy events with telescopes, live music, and astro-themed pub trivia. His work with the national parks to organize dark sky festivals and eclipse-viewing events earned him service as Astronomer in Residence at the Grand Canyon in 2023. Hummels has worked as a science consultant on several science and science-fiction films, including the Disney movie "Crater".
